Scott E. Allen

Scott E. Allen is a Senior Attorney at Triangle Divorce Lawyers with more than 32 years of experience practicing family law in North Carolina. Based in Raleigh, Scott helps clients navigate complex divorce, child custody, child support, alimony, postseparation support, equitable distribution, mediation, appeals, alienation of affection, criminal conversation, and other North Carolina family law matters.

Scott may be a strong fit for clients facing complicated legal or financial issues, including business owners, spouses of business owners, and individuals involved in high-conflict family law matters. His approach combines big-picture thinking with practical problem-solving, helping clients understand their options, prepare for next steps, and make informed decisions about their families, finances, and future.

A lifelong North Carolinian, Scott graduated from North Carolina State University in 1990 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Philosophy. While attending N.C. State, he began working part-time at a Raleigh family law firm. That experience changed the direction of his career and showed him that family law could give him the opportunity to help people through some of the most difficult and important moments in their lives.

Scott earned his Juris Doctor from the University of North Carolina School of Law in 1994 and returned to Raleigh to begin practicing family law. Since then, he has litigated and resolved cases across North Carolina, including matters involving complex property division, custody disputes, support, financial issues, and appellate work before the North Carolina Court of Appeals. He is also a trained mediator and has participated in many private mediations and arbitrations.

At Triangle Divorce Lawyers, Scott is committed to clear communication, preparation, and professionalism. He values honest attorney-client relationships and works to keep clients informed about case progress, upcoming deadlines, and important decisions throughout the legal process.

Scott has also taught numerous legal education classes over the course of his career. Outside of work, he serves on the board of directors for St. Andrews United Methodist Church Preschool and has participated in mission trips to El Salvador.

Scott has been married for more than 30 years and has two adult children. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, spending time with his three dogs, working on old cars, photography, and occasionally playing bass guitar in his church band.
